April 22, 2018 - 1:00 pm
On Sunday April 22nd from 1pm-4pm, the Bounty of the Bridgers MSU Food Pantry will be hosting an Earth Day and Global Youth Service Day event to kick-off their new garden. This garden will supply the campus pantry with fresh produce through the summer and fall. At this event, individuals will have the opportunity to help prepare the garden by working on activities such as transplanting starts, direct seeding, weeding the high tunnels, preparing garden beds, and preparing seed potatoes for planting. At this event, we will also have kids activities related to gardening and local food, local food tastings and games, a planting station for individuals to plant a seed to take home, a planter pot decorating station, and a t-shirt raffle. These activities will help youth learn more about local food in Montana, gardening, and the importance of fresh, healthy, and local food. This event is possible thanks to sponsorship from Youth Service America and the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation Youth Grant Program, and is being held in partnership with the Food Resource Council student club, Friends of Local Foods student club, and Towne’s Harvest Garden.
